 light weight sturdy easy to assemble April 19, 2010

Light weight easy to carry parts upstairs to assemble did not carry wholebox up. Reasonably sturdy but not for small children or large people. With mattress in place A little difficult to return to seating position because of the light weight a bit tricky with 1 person. Metal frame for mattress came a little dammaged(dented and end cap loose) but not enough to send it back or restrict function. Futon mattress was purchased seperatly came 3 days after.

DO NOT BUY THIS SOFA!! It looks great, until you open the box. The arms are scratched, the metal tubing is scratched, stained and the holes do not line up with each other. In addition, the box we received was missing the spring attachments to hold the two parts together and to make the bed fold and lie flat and we were missing bolts long enough to reach from one end of the tube to the other. My husband is able to drill holes through the tubing, but certainly we would never have bought this product if we had known how cheaply and carelessly made it was. After a phone call to American Furniture Alliance, the parts arrived within a couple of weeks. It's too much trouble to repack and return, so we're making the best of it. My advice - buy a different brand! I'll write again once we see how well it folds and holds the futon after it's been put together and used.
Now that we've put it together, I can also add that it does NOT have the seated position as advertised. It only has the leaning and flat positions. I had to buy supports to use in order to be able to use this as a sofa. BAD, BAD DEAL.
