Durable double weave rush grass stretched onto 2" thick, kiln dried dovetailed hard pine frame, with a Tyvek like material moisture barrier bottom to resist floor level dampness. Use several to cover floors in many configurations, our 36" wide tatamis are available in 3 lengths - 3' x 3', 3' x 6', 3' x 7'. Also, use a single mat as simple decorative platform on the floor, or raise off the floor with patio blocks or wood blocks, and add cushions for an attractive reading or meditation space- put a tatami mat on it's side against a wall for a sofa back. Tatami mats are becoming a simple, popular alternative platform bed or futon sofa, right on the floor, or on cinder or wood blocks. A tatami mat on it's side behind a platform bed makes a great looking and comfortable head board. Fantastic purchases. They came well packaged and quick. Keep in mind, these are heavy mats, coming in at about 50lbs. I'm constructing a tea room and they worked out well for my project. They do have an "earthy' smell to them; for those of you sensitive to such characteristics, I would let them air dry a while.

I bought the 3' x 6' mat, which works nicely in my little meditation cubby. The mat came double boxed for protection and was in perfect shape. It's solid but with a little bounce when walked on, and I love the slightly rice-y smell. All in all an excellent transaction.
